The Rearguard

The Rearguard

Every retreating army has a rearguard.  That group of the ablest soldiers, best trained, most skilled, and fiercest in battle.  They protect the rear while the rest of the army retreats back to a defensible position.  They are prepared to deal with any measure of attack from the enemy.  They will sacrifice themselves without thought if it means the rest of the army is able to get to where they can defend themselves against the enemy.  They will do anything to protect their brethren.

Several times in history, their exploits have been told in song and myth for the rest of the civilization to understand what it means to sacrifice for something greater than yourself.  Not just a group of people, but a society.  A way of life.

To give but one example that had generally been forgotten until a graphic novel was made into a surprisingly successful movie, there was the sacrifice of 300 Spartan warriors that included their King, Leonidas, against an invading army of Persians led by their King, and aspiring Emperor of the World, Xerxes.

Now, the Athenian navy had dealt a serious blow to the Persian navy, which forced the Persian army to move against Greece, the dominant civilization standing in his way of conquering all of Europe (since the other civilizations in and around Europe, such as the Romans, Carthaginians, Phoenicians and Macedonians couldn’t match the forces of Persia.) on land.

Based upon the geography of Greece, there was a unique pass between mountains called Thermopylae (the Hot Gates) that becomes very narrow.  The Spartans, understanding that if the Persians got through the Hot Gates all of Greece would be overrun decided to make a stand there while the rest of Greece pulled back to regroup.

Unfortunately for Leonidas, the rest of Sparta didn’t agree, so all that Leonidas could muster was 300 men to guard that pass.  And guard it they did.  300 men stood up against thousands.  Wave after wave were sent against them and they did not flee or fail.   They stood shoulder to shoulder knowing that they would not survive the battle.

Their sacrifice provided the opportunity for the rest of Greece, including the Spartan army and Athenian army, to work together to defeat the invasion of Europe by Xerxes.  The sacrifice of this group of Spartans and the later victory by the combined Greek forces allowed Western Civilization to continue to develop into the greatest civilization on Earth.  Without it and it would have been consumed into a Persian vision of the future.

I relay this history lesson because we are standing on the edge of the precipice right now.
There is a virus, a sickness that has been prowling about our civilization, probing for weaknesses, seeking wounds to enter and then deconstruct from within what millennia of generations has built.  It seeks to plant and develop lies about our civilization, the manner it was built and the natural people that composes this civilization.

It has been there, off and on, every decade of the 20th century, and we’ve fought it back with varying degrees of success.  And though we haven’t won every victory, we’ve been able to hold everything together.

But this Spectre is now upon us and it threatens our demise.  And many of those around us, our friends, families, co-workers, our heroes and political leaders, have been exposed as being, wittingly or unwittingly, the agents of this menace.

For us to recover, it will require discipline, clarity, logic, reason, strength and courage that, admittedly, our civilization may not have any longer.  It will require you to fight against those who are brainwashed and have come to believe the worst is true of themselves and of you.  It will demand that you overcome your fear of ostracism, shame and banishment.

But you will not be alone.  I can’t tell you everything, but I will tell you enough to help you and those you unite with fight and defeat this Beast. I also can’t confirm for you that you’ll survive.  But I can say that victory will be worth it.

What you need to know today is this – every news event (or movement) has a narrative, a story that lies as the first premise of the argument that is being sold to the public.

What is the foundational premise of what you’re being told right now?  What is the critical first step that everything else comes from?

Think about the dominant news story right now.  What is the main assumption that keeps getting repeated over and over again without challenge?

You must figure this out.  It may come easily to you or it may not.  But you must find out.  When you do, more will become clear to you and you may become increasingly angry or even furious at what is happening to our country right now.  That’s fine.  Go ahead, but don’t allow it affect your judgement.
Feel free to private message me on Twitter (@JamesTScorpio1) and I will help you if I can.

More will be forthcoming.

Doubt man.  Trust in God.
